Welcome to Royal College Manchester at Seashell Trust
We are an independent specialist further education college for young people aged 19 to 25 who have severe or profound learning difficulties and disabilities.
We have skills and expertise in meeting the needs of young people with one or more of the following conditions - Autism spectrum conditions; Deafblindness/multi-sensory impairment; Hearing or visual impairment with additional needs; Profound and multiple learning disabilities; Complex physical disabilities; Cortical visual impairment; Auditory processing disorder; Additional medical needs including progressive and degenerative conditions
Total Communication
In order to meet the diverse needs of our learners we have adopted a total communication approach incorporating sign, speech, symbols (including PECS), objects of reference, photographs and real objects as appropriate to support the learning of the individual. Communication underpins everything we do.
Placement Types
We offer day and residential placements including; 38 weeks (weekly boarding Mon-Thu); 38 weeks (termly boarding); 52 weeks. Further information on our residential packages can be found here.
