Amna Rana

Working as a secondary school english teacher, Amna has a longstanding passion and interest in education and ensuring its accessbility for all. Working with learners who vary in their vulnerability, she advocates for young people to have access to bespoke educational opportunities which they are at the heart of. Having started off her relationship with Seashell many years ago as a volunteer in school and college, she developed into a Learning Support Assistant and also worked in residential care.  Consequently Amna has a real world sight into the daily demands, expectations and rewards that working with the young people in Seashell’s care bring.

After graduating, Amna went on to complete her MSc in Poverty, Inequality and International Development, focusing on educational inequality and disability in the Global South and bringing this back to a UK and Manchester context. Her devotion to her students extends to her ambition of supporting them to develop into valued and valuable global citizens with confidence and a courageous attitude. Fuelling her desire for change and responsibility within the education system, Amna completed her PGCE in secondary education and currently works at a school in Manchester. She previously worked in the not-for-profit sector with a focus on social mobility and community cohesion. She is an active member of her community, having volunteered for Oxfam and Amnesty International.
