Dr Afshan Khawaja

Afshan joined the Board of Directors in July 2009.

Currently Consultant Psychiatrist: General Adult Psychiatry, at North Manchester General Hospital. Responsible for inpatients admitted from Manchester when severely unwell, Dr Khawaja leads a multi-disciplinary team and takes a lead in all Mental Health Act issues and medication as well as care planning and other therapies. Dr Khawaja's other responsibilities include coordinating placements and teaching medical students and supervising and training junior doctors.

As a BMA representative, Dr Khawaja is a member of the local negotiating committee (LNC).
