Jane Raca MBE
Jane joined the Board of Directors in October 2018.
A former solicitor, she became a litigation partner in national law firm Shoosmiths, before taking a career break to raise her family.
The career break became permanent when her second child James was born 15 weeks prematurely with brain damage and was subsequently diagnosed with cerebral palsy, autistic spectrum disorder, severe learning disabilities and epilepsy.
Since then Jane has focused on securing for James the best provision, which has included getting him a place at Seashell Trust in 2015.
Jane now writes, speaks and campaigns on disability issues; her first book Standing Up for James was reviewed in several national papers and she has written for the Sunday Telegraph and The Guardian.
She works with disability charities such as Mencap and the National Autistic Society.
Jane was awarded an MBE in 2019 in recognition of her services to disabled people and their families.
