Sherann Hillman MBE

As Head of Family Services, Sherann uses her in-depth knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities to support families and represent the Seashell Trust nationally. In her role she continually advocates hard for the participation of children, young people and parent carers in the co-commissioning, co-design, co-delivery and co-assessment of services locally and nationally.
Sherann was significantly involved in the Children and Families Act 2014 and relevant legislation. Sitting on a number of work streams nationally including the following: SEND Implementation Board (DfE); SEND Advisory Board (DfE); Disagreement and Resolution Advisory Group (DfE); Preparing for Adulthood Reference Group; Rochford Review; Personal Budgets; Special Educational Needs Consortium. She was also instrumental in the amendment to the Children and Families Act 2014 for the right for parents and carers to have the right to an assessment for support.
Sherann received the Proud of Stockport “Community Champions” Award in 2013, Recognition Award for her work in the SEND Reforms in September 2014 and awarded an MBE in the 2017 New Year's Honours List for her Services to Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
