Speech and language support for children and young people with SLD
Seashell Trust’s accredited Elklan training has been designed to help maximise the speech, language and communication potential of children and young people with severe learning difficulties.
Our ten week course will cover in depth subjects including developing vocabulary, non-verbal communication, supporting pupils with unclear speech and promoting social skills. It will equip you with innovative tools and methods to enhance learning and communication development, helping you become more effective in your role.
You’ll learn strategies that you can put into practice from day one and each week will be encouraged to apply learnings directly in your workplace.
On completion of the course, you’ll feel more confident in your role, with a bank of new knowledge and skills to draw on. All those successfully completing the course will receive an Ascentis accreditation at level 2 or 3 - level 2 is equivalent to GCSE level of study and level 3 is equivalent to A or NVQ3 level of study.
Our Elkan training course is delivered by qualified speech and language therapist and registered Elkan tutor, Emily Walsh. Teaching methods include practical hands on activities, videos and group discussion to engage learners.
