Stockport SEND Week of Action

We are delighted that Seashell will be running webinars as part of Stockport's SEND Week of Action. Seashell’s webinars are aimed at parents of under 5s with additional needs and parents of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions, or wanting to find out more.

Makaton Signing for Babies Taster
16 November, 1 - 2:30pm
The Online Taster Session provides an introduction to Makaton and how it can support language and communication development. Participants will have an opportunity to learn a selection of 25 signs and symbols from the Makaton core vocabulary, plus an additional selection which focus on Early Years settings. It is aimed at those interested in finding out more about Makaton and who may be considering attending further training workshops.
Support Early Communication Development
18 November, 10-11am / 3-4pm
This workshop will look at strategies for supporting early communication development particularly where the child is delayed in developing expressive language. We will look at a typical early communication development, using intensive interaction and first introduction of signs and symbols.
Baby Massage
20 November, 10:30 - 11:15am
For parents and carers. This session talks about the benefits and setting up a routine for massage especially for children with sensory impairments because of the role that touch and routines play for these children.
Autism
Behavioural Approach to Sleep
16 November, 9 – 10:30am
An introduction to sleep theory and suggestions for behavioural strategies that might be tried in the home.
Autism Spectrum Conditions
17 November, 6 – 7:30pm
An introduction to autism and the ‘4 areas of difference’.
Sensory Processing Awareness
18 November, 7 – 8pm
This training will aim to provide learners with a basic understanding of the 7 sensory systems and how they may contribute to difficulties in a person’s daily life.
Behaviours of Concern
19 November, 9 – 10:30am
An introduction to understanding and addressing the functions of behaviours of concern.
