Volunteers flew in from across the country to paint the town at Seashell Trust.

A team of 19 from BT donned their Santa hats and brushed up on their decorating skills for a festive painting party.

Karen Breene, director of volume sales at BT, said: “Each year the team take on a Christmas community challenge. They were unanimous in choosing this amazing charity after reading about the work it does providing education and residential services for children and young people with severe disabilities and communication difficulties.”

The volunteers came from all over the UK, including Belfast, Glasgow, Oxford and Canterbury, to paint two bedrooms and the changing rooms of the hydro pool.

Karen added: “All the people we met were upbeat and motivational. We felt honoured to be able to have our ‘Christmas party’ at Seashell Trust.

“Some of the students arranged a thank you card, with the help of their carers, with handprints as signatures which touched everyone who had worked throughout the day on a truly inspirational project with truly inspirational people.”

Seashell Trust volunteer co-ordinator Denese Paver said: “They finished the jobs beautifully. One bedroom is currently occupied by one of our residents and the other is being refurbished to accommodate a new student.”
