A cyclist is planning to ride across Canada to raise £1,000 for Seashell Trust – and has promised to do a day in the saddle naked if he hits his target before the end of the adventure.

Jamie Rose, from Davenport, Stockport, along with schoolfriend Lewis Brindley from Offerton, is planning to cycle over 4,000 miles along the Trans-Canada Highway which runs through southern Canada in aid of Seashell Trust.

His sister Taylor, 20, who has severe speech and language issues and global disabilities, is a student at the trust's Royal College Manchester.

Jamie, 26, said: “Starting on the east coast island of Newfoundland and finishing 4,600 miles and three months later in Vancouver on the Pacific west coast, the plan is to cycle 60 miles a day, six days a week and wild camp six nights a week, with one night a week in a motels.

“If I hit the target, I'll do a day's cycling naked for a laugh!”

The epic journey will start on June 10 but Jamie, pictured with his dad Mark, Taylor and his girlfriend Katie Holmes, is moving to Canada this month on a 12 month working visa.

He said: “I am doing the cycle trip for the challenge and adventure but I figured it would be a positive thing to raise some money for the trust as its done so much for so many families including ours.

“My sister Taylor is a student there. It is such a positive place in comparison to some of the other places she went to school. The pupils and staff at Seashell are superhuman and it is humbling to have an opportunity to support such an inspiring place.

“It is absolutely no overstatement to say that its existence saves people's lives.”
