Bar mitzvah bike challenge raises £600

A King David High School pupil has decided to celebrate his bar mitzvah by rising to a charity challenge set by his parents.
In the Jewish faith, bar mitzvah is the celebration of entering adult life, often with traditional ceremonies and parties.
Vered Hofton, from Gatley, Stockport, said: “We wanted to make it more contemporary so we asked our son Ethan to do charity work or get involved in something so he will feel he is contributing in the community.
Vered and her husband Louaz suggested Ethan take part in the Manchester to Blackpool cycle ride to raise money for Seashell Trust
The 60-mile ride took Ethan, his dad Louaz and aunt Linoy eight hours to complete.
Pilates and yoga studio owner Vered said: “It was hard because Ethan's legs got really tight but, apart from that, he never complained. He loves a challenge and always likes to push himself to the end.”
Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme runs a school and college for those with profound disabilities and communication disorders. It holds a number of sports clubs and holiday camps where children of all abilities from across Stockport can play together.
Ethan, who is in year 8 in king David High School in north Manchester, used to attend the award-winning Children's Able and Disabled Sport (CADS) holiday camp at the Seashell Trust.
Vered said: “Ethan loved to go to CADS when he was younger and he still remembers it was the best camp out of all the things he was doing.
“We think Seashell does such a wonderful job. The staff are so loving and caring and the idea of integrating disabled and able-bodied children in sport and activity is so important.
She added: “The Seashell Trust is part of our community here and part of Ethan's childhood. I hope he will contribute more when he gets older with some volunteer work.”
Wendy Bray, from Seashell Trust, said: “We are all so grateful to Ethan for his amazing efforts on our behalf. To have completed this challenge at such a young age is truly inspirational and everyone here would like to thank him for raising so much for us.”
Ethan's epic ride raised more then £600.
