APEM's sportive team raises £1,100 in 60-mile slog
An environmental consultancy raised £1,100 for Seashel Trust students.
The team of six from Manchester-based APEM, which specialises in freshwater and marine ecology, rode in this year's cycle sportive.
They took on the challenging 60-mile route with 7,500 ft of climbing through the Cheshire and Derbyshire countryside.
Richard Bassett, from APEM said: “Seashell Trust is APEM’s adopted charity. We help out in a few different ways, including recently offering work experience. A number of our staff are keen cyclists, including managing director Keith Hendry.
“The sportive was a great opportunity for us to do something we enjoy while supporting our adopted charity.
“We all did the 60-mile route, although some did it faster than others. Whatever pace was ridden, I can confidently say we all found it a good challenge and had some tired legs at the end of it.”
Jo Barber, fundraiser with Seashell Trust, said: “We are absolutely blown away. It's a fantastic effort and so generous of the APEM staff and all their sponsors!”
Sportive 2016 - with 30, 60 and 100 miles options - will take place on Sunday, September 18. Please visit www.seashelltrustsportive.org.uk to register interest in taking part.
