Seashell Sportive 2016 brings in a massive £10,000

A pair of cyclists enjoying the spectacular views at The Roaches in the Peak District during the Seashell Trust Sportive.

Seashell Trust supporters saddled up to raise £10,000 on their third annual cycling sportive sponsored by the Carillion Morgan Sindall joint venture.

Some 170 riders took on the 30, 60 or 100-mile routes through the Cheshire and Derbyshire countryside to raise money for our students.

Some of the money raised will go towards buying specialist bicycles so they will also get to experience the thrill of cycling.

Corporate teams including event sponsor Carillion Morgan Sindall, WHR Property and PZ Cussons took part, with the AECOM team alone over £1,000.

Helen Sheldon, public liaison officer for the Carillion Morgan Sindall joint venture, said “We are delighted we could provide Seashell Trust with logistical support at this year’s event. As a major project on the doorstep of the trust, we are in an excellent position to support their superb work. In addition, we will also be sponsoring next year’s sportive. Along with the stunning Peak District setting, the route will also include a section of the A6 Manchester Airport Relief Road, prior to its planned opening in late 2017.”

Seashell Trust's Jo Barber said: “Thank you to Carillion Morgan Sindall and a big thanks to our other supporters PZ Cussons, Velo-Tech, Brazen PR, Bounce Energy Bars, Point Blank Coffee, My Protein and everyone who took part or sponsored somebody.”

Next year's event is planned for Sunday, October 17. Look out for links to sign up.
