Students at Seashell Trust are looking forward to days out and adventures after Lord's Taverners presented them with a new wheelchair accessible minibus.

The new 16-seat wheelchair accessible minibus will enable these students to continue to access educational, sporting and social opportunities. This includes work experience placements, leisure trips to places such as Chester Zoo, Blackpool and the Trafford Centre as well as many sporting opportunities.

Mark Geraghty, chief executive and principal of Seashell Trust, said: “Our wonderful new Lord’s Taverners minibus is literally a life-line to the local community for our children and young people.   As many of them live with us it means that they can access a whole host of activities in the community, from sport through to shopping, that they would struggle to get to without a fully wheelchair-accessible vehicle.”

The Lord’s Taverners charity has provided over 1,100 accessible minibuses for disadvantaged and disabled young people in schools across the UK since 1976. This minibus has been made possible by a donation of over £14,000 from the Law Family Charitable Foundation.

Paul Robin, chief executive of the Lord’s Taverners, said: “The Lord's Taverners believes that sport and recreation are essential for all young people, regardless of ability or background. This minibus will help the Seashell Trust pupils to get out and enjoy new places and experiences. We are proud to support the staff, parents and young people of the Seashell Trust and thank the Law Family Charitable Foundation for their support.”
