Sherann Hillman with Ed Timpson MP

Seashell Trust's Head of Family Services Sherann Hillman has been nominated for the Cheshire Woman of the Year award 2017.

The nominees are selected for personal courage, service to their community or outstanding professional achievement.

Winners will be announced at a celebration luncheon on Wednesday, March 29, at Eaton Park, Chester.

Sherann was also awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours for services to children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. She is also Chair of Parents in Partnership Stockport (PIPS) and the co-chair of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF).

Sherann said: “I have chosen to dedicate my life to making a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, because my three children have SEN and I understand the struggles families have to get the right support and services. A number of my friends also have children and young people with SEND and I saw the impact it had on their lives. I wanted to change services for the better, ensuring families are at the heart of design, development, delivery and the reviewing.”
