Seashell Trust's partnership with a group of volunteers and fundraisers has been named as the one of the best in the world.

The partnership with  Barclays staff from across Manchester won the UK Colleagues in the Community category at the the Barclays Global Citizenship Awards 2017.

They were then shortlisted as one of the top three projects in the world but were pipped to the post by a team in Tokyo which helped rebuild communities after the tsunami.

The Manchester team was recognised for raising £100,000 and its 325 days of volunteering in a one year.

Jan Kirwan, from Barclays, said: “We are delighted with the amount raised for the Seashell Trust and our volunteering activity and would like to thank everyone who supported us to make this happen. Alongside our Shared Growth Ambition, Barclays encourages us to get involved in the causes we care about. It’s about giving back our skills, time and energy to support our local communities – so we’re thrilled to have raised this money.”

Seashell Trust's corporate fundraiser Wendy Bray accompanied Jan to the final in London.

Wendy said: “It was such a privilege to be at the awards and to see first-hand just how much Barclays does to support charities and communities all over the world.

“It truly is testament to the commitment, hard work and passion of the team at Barclays Corporate in Manchester that they got down to the last three in their category. Huge congratulations to everyone involved on such a prestigious accolade – we feel so proud to have been involved.”
