Seashell Trust are so excited to have been shortlisted as one of the final 14 Stockport organisations to win a grant from the Vernon Building society Community Awards. To be amongst such amazing local organisations is a real privilege.

The size of the donation will depend on the number of votes we receive so we are asking everyone to really get behind us and take a few seconds to vote for Seashell. It’s super easy!  A vote can be made by visiting www.thevernon.co.uk/vote and select Seashell Trust. Then select 'done'. This will record your vote. Only one vote per device can be registered and voting closes on the 2nd October.

All monies donated through the Community Fund will fund our Children’s Able and Disabled Sports (CADS) activities. Becoming a truly inclusive community in Stockport would be so exciting and such a huge achievement for the area. Our aspirations for disabled young people include ensuring they have access to the same opportunities as others, like sport and recreational learning.  Seashell Trust has pioneered inclusive sport for our students and young people as well as those from the wider community. CADS is a series of unique sport, health and leisure activities offering holidays clubs, a Saturday Club and specialist activities (climbing, football, swimming etc.) on a weekly basis. These are not only accessed by our own students who live here on campus, but by the wider community and around 500 youngsters, aged between 5 and 16 years old, access CADs each year.

Our award winning programme is unique in allowing all abilities to enjoy sport together rather than being segregated and one to one support can be provided for those with more complex needs to ensure they can participate in everything.  We are currently looking for funding for equipment for both swimming and sport equipment to ensure we can continue to enable children to try out as many different activities as possible and all monies secured through The Vernon will be used for this.
