Peter Terry

Peter joined the College Governing Body in June 2018.
Peter is a Chartered Accountant and partner at Grant Thornton, the international accounting and advisory firm, where he holds the role of corporate finance partner, specialising in mergers and acquisitions and private equity and has over 20 years’ experience in advising business and business owners on their strategy and objectives, and how to best realise these.
Peter attended Bolton School from 1980 to 1987 and has a physics degree from Birmingham University.
Outside of work, Peter is a keen sportsman, constantly looking for a sport he can excel at – his current favourites are tennis and rowing (he is an active member of Brooklands Sports Club and Trafford Rowing Club).
Peter is married with three daughters, one following in her parents’ footsteps and studying accountancy and finance at university, one at medical school and one preparing for GCSEs.
Peter’s niece, Emma, has special needs - she has CHARGE, a genetic syndrome involving extensive medical and physical difficulties. Emma attended the Royal School at Seashell Trust between 2005 and 2011 so Peter has experienced first-hand the fantastic work that the Trust does with children in developing their confidence and skills and, where possible, helping them prepare for life in the outside world. Seashell Trust helped Emma secure employment with Morson International and takes a continuing interest in her progress.
Peter is keen to do what he can to assist the Trust in helping other children reach their full potential, whatever their needs and abilities. He believes that with his financial and strategic planning expertise, and knowledge of the difficulties faced by the children and their parents, he will be able to bring significant value to the role of Governor.
