To celebrate our decade as Seashell Trust, we are sharing ten top people who have been at the heart of our family during the last ten years – staff, volunteers, supporters and most importantly our extraordinary students and their families.

Many people who start off volunteering at Seashell Trust find they love it so much they decide to join us full-time.

We decided to quiz Hayden Larder - CADS (Children’s Able and Disabled Sports) play scheme volunteer and now Seashell Trust kitchen assistant - with ten quick-fire questions to find why she thinks it is such a great place to work.

So, here’s her starter for 10 (years of Seashell)!

1. How long have you been working and volunteering with Seashell Trust? 4 and a half years.

2. How did you come to work at Seashell? I started as a CADS volunteer after doing a childcare course.

3. What is your most memorable moment at Seashell Trust? Having a ‘buddy’ to help me on my first day working on the play scheme.

4. Describe Seashell Trust in 10 words: It’s magical! Understanding, kind, helpful, friendly, community, strong team and non-judgmental.

5. What’s your favourite thing about Seashell Trust? Making new friends, helping others, learning new things, having a laugh every day.

6. What makes working at Seashell so special? All the staff and students. The brilliant fundraising and exciting activities.

7. What has been your proudest moment? Working as a one-to-one support carer at CADS, helping a child not be afraid of playing in the swimming pool.

8. What’s the biggest change you have seen in your time at Seashell Trust? Change for the better with the new modern buildings. It has brought the college even more to life with much more going on.

9. What impact have you seen Seashell Trust have? What difference does it make? Seeing young people grow from kids to confident adults. People from all over the country being in a place where they have chance to grow.

10. What makes Seashell a unique place for students to come to? Everyone smiles! Everyone works happily together. All the staff enjoy their work and are really well trained and interested in helping others.
