It’s time to Shellebrate!

196 years ago founders of the original charity Robert Philips and William Bateman opened their school for deaf children in rented premises in Salford. Fast forward to 2019 and it has evolved to host a college, school and specialist care which helps to educate and develop 130 children and young people, who have profound learning difficulties and communication needs, through a range of innovative, exciting and explorative techniques.
This week marks the start of our annual Shellebration in preparation for our 200th birthday in 2023! Our staff will be enjoying a week of activities to raise money for our charity, including bake sales, pyjama day, tombola and prize draws, ending on a birthday special afternoon tea on the Friday with live music from our rock band.
Over the year’s we’ve opened our doors to her Majesty the Queen, held a number of incredible fundraising events such as this year’s Strictly Seashell and helped to give thousands of students communication for life.
We’d love to hear your Seashell stories from over the years, get in touch via social media @SeashellTrust and share your Seashell memories
