This session will focus on how to support children and young people with autism, and specifically sensory processing challenges, to use yoga for self-regulation. It will explore how yoga and mindfulness can help promote a state of calm, releasing tension within the body. This session is ideal for education staff looking to introduce yoga promote calm in the learning environment.
Yoga has long been recognised as a useful tool for calming the mind and body by using simple breathing techniques and postures. It can be done anywhere by anyone and doesn't require any specialist equipment.
This training is delivered by an occupational therapist with a post graduate qualification in Sensory Integration, who will talk about her experiences of using yoga in our special school.
