Pumpkin Carvers Get Ready!

The arrival of October makes us think darker nights, crunching leaves and . . . pumpkins! This year, to cheer up what might be a locked down Halloween for many of us, we’re launching the Grand Seashell Pumpkin Carving Battle!

So get your creative thinking caps on for designs to take the title! Entry is open to anyone and we’ll have prizes for the following:

Best pumpkin (Under 18s)

Best pumpkin (18 and over)

Best use of embellishments

Scariest Face

 

Pumpkin Business Battle

Organisations can also join in by entering our special battle to design the best business pumpkin. It could reflect your brand, what you do or just be a beautiful creation and we’ll have a special prize for the best pumpkin put forward by a business. Why not get different teams or departments to compete to make it really fun?

Oh My Gourd . . . Fun Pumpkin Facts to Get the Creativity Flowing!

  • Pumpkin is a fruit and not a vegetable.

Terms and conditions

 

  1. PROMOTER: This competition is operated by Seashell Trust, a registered charity, (Reg. charity no. 1092655) with registered office at Stanley Road, Cheadle Hulme, SK8 6RQ. References to “we”, “us” or “our” in these terms and conditions are references to the promoter.
  2. OPENING AND CLOSING DATE: This competition opens on 9th October 2020 and closes on 30th October 2020. Any entries made before the opening date or after the closing date will not be valid and will not be entered into this competition.
  3. ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to anyone in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Competition entry is £2 with the option to make a further donation to Seashell Trust.
  4. HOW TO ENTER:

  • Entries must be received by the closing date to be counted. Enter as many times as you like.
  • Please submit entries through parental accounts, and not through any children's social media accounts
  • Please don’t include a photo of yourself with your entry unless you are giving full consent for us to use this on our social media in conjunction with this competition

5. PRIZE: There are four prizes to be won in total. Maximum one prize per winner.

6. WINNER SELECTION: Judging of the competition will take place on 31st October. The panel will choose the best entry for each of the categories. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality of the design and overall visual impact

7. NOTIFICATION: We will publish a photograph of the winning pumpkin for each category on our social media on 31st October. We will then contact the winners by 2nd November 2020. If a winner does not respond to us within 5 days of being notified by us, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and another winner will be picked from the remaining eligible entries in accordance with the process described above in clause 6.

8. DECISIONS OF THE PROMOTER AND JUDGE: If there is any dispute about the receipt of validity of any entry or any other aspect of the competition, this will be decided by us. The decision of the judges in relation to the winners is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it. Our decision regarding any other aspect of the competition is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.

9. WINNER LIST: The winners’ first names, respective area of residence (if known) and copies of the winning entries will be published on http://www.seashelltrust.org.uk no earlier than 30 days and no later than 60 days after the closing date of the competition.

10. AGREEMENT TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Entry to this competition shall constitute your acceptance of these terms and conditions and your agreement to be bound by them. These terms and conditions take effect immediately upon entry to the competition.

11. DISQUALIFICATION: We reserve the right to reject any entry, withhold any prize and disqualify you from the competition if we suspect you of failing to comply with these terms and conditions or of fraud, cheating or dishonesty.

12. QUALITY AND OWNERSHIP OF ENTRIES: Entries must not be, or contain anything that is illegal, offensive, abusive, defamatory or explicit. By entering this competition, you confirm that the entry is your own, original, art and you confirm that your submission of the entry (and our use of the entry for the purposes described in clause 16) does not and will not infringe any third party’s intellectual property rights. We do not claim any rights of ownership in your entry, but we may use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format your entry for the purposes described in clause 16.

13. NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ENTRIES NOT RECEIVED: We accept no responsibility for entries not successfully received by us, or which are delayed, due to a technical fault, technical malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.

14. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Insofar as is permitted by law, we, our agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate you or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize (if you win) except where it is caused by our negligence or the negligence of our agents or distributors or that of our or their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

15. USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ADMINISTER COMPETITION: We may collect personal information in relation to this competition from you in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 and other applicable data privacy laws. Except as set out in clause 16 below, we will only use your information for the purposes of administering this competition.

16. USE OF PERSONAL AND OTHER INFORMATION FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES: By entering this competition, you agree that if you win we may use your entry, name, image, and county of residence for promotional purposes (including on our websites, social media, within our newsletter or within promotional emails). Please do not enter this competition if you do not want your information to be used in accordance with clauses 9, 15 and 16.

17. CANCELLATION OR WITHDRAWAL OF COMPETITION: We reserve the right at our absolute discretion to withdraw or cancel this competition without prior notice and without liability to any party if it becomes necessary to do so.

18. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS: We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Revised terms and conditions will be available at www.seashelltrust.org.uk . It is your responsibility to keep up to date with any such changes.

19. RELEVANT LAW: This competition and these terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts if any dispute arises.
