Laltex team conquers three peaks challenge for Seashell

The Laltex team during their Three Peak Challenge raising money for Seashell Trust

A team of friends scaled the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales to raise money for Seashell Trust.

Carl Price, Alex White and Catherine Tye took on the National Three Peaks Challenge over three days.

Carl, finance controller at the the import and distribution firm Laltex, based in Leigh, said: “I turned 40 earlier this year and wanted to mark the year with something, so decided upon this challenge and raise some money along the way.

“We were so lucky with the weather especially up in Scotland where the forecast was heavy rain and strong winds. Its wasn’t until we got up to the cloud line two and a half hours up Ben Nevis that we saw some rain, and even then it was only a 10-minute shower.

“At the top of each peak it was very cloudy so visibility was only a few feet, but when coming down and out of the clouds the scenery was fantastic. The weather in Snowdonia was fantastic – bright and sunny.”

The team spent just under 14 hours walking up and down Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

The mountainous effort raised £2,500 which will be shared between Seashell Trust and Derian House.

Wendy Bray, from Seashell Trust, said: “We are so grateful to the team at Laltex for taking on this incredible challenge for us. Congratulations to all three of them and heartfelt thanks from all the families here that will benefit.”
