Why choose Royal College?

Royal College Manchester at Seashell Trust is an independent specialist college with a Board of Governors made up of representatives from the Board of Directors of Seashell Trust together with representatives from local authorities, teaching and non-teaching staff and parents.

We received an outstanding Ofsted inspection report in August 2013 and our provision is accredited through the National Autistic society's quality assurance based Autism Accreditation programme.

The college is located in 90 acres of pleasant grounds in the beautiful Cheshire countryside to the south of Manchester.  We share these grounds with Royal School Manchester.

Our curriculum in college and with community partners is established on relevant, practically-based and highly motivating learning opportunities which enable students to explore options and develop skills.

We have fabulous facilities on site including a swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, sports hall with climbing wall and sensory rooms.

Our medical centre, audiology clinic and full range of specialist support including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy allow us to provide a very comprehensive education and care package for our children and young people which adds tremendous value and supports progress and achievement.

Our Assistive Technologists are constantly researching the latest innovative technologies in order to implement new strategies to promote independence and develop communication.

From the initial assessment and admission through to leaving college we offer a family link service which provides support, information and advice to families and carers of students attending Seashell Trust.

We are very proud of our new build programme which has recently provided 17 new state of the art houses in a village setting on site for our residential students or for those requiring a short break package.
