Carillion Morgan Sindall smooth way for students with new path

Carillion Morgan Sindall staff hard at work making Seashell Trust sensory garden weather-proof and safe all year round.

Construction firm Carillion Morgan Sindall is fitting a new pathway through Seashell Trust's sensory garden.

The current path is wooden planks and unusable in the wet weather.

Seashell Trust students all have multiple complex disabilities including visual impairment and physical disabilites, including balance issues.

Wendy Bray, from Seashell Trust, said: “Carillion Morgan Sindall are fitting a multi-sensory textured surface which will be fantastic for our students. They are donating all materials and labour for the project. This will save us thousands of pounds and make our area much safer and the garden more accessible.”

The work is part of the community commitment they have made while the business is involved in the construction of the Manchester Airport Relief Road.

Neil Rogers, the Carillion Morgan Sindall project director, said: “Carillion Morgan Sindall are very pleased to have been able to contribute to improving the Seashell Trust Sensory Garden. We are humbled by the excellent work the Seashell Trust do for the community and to be able to help in a small way is very rewarding.”
