Brave enough to make a splash for Seashell at new year's day swim?
Brave swimmers will be welcoming the new year with a icy splash in Salford Quays to raise money for disabled swimmers at Seashell Trust.
Swimmers at set to take the plunge into a 200m course made up of inflatable iceberg buoys, organised by outdoor swimming specialists Uswim.
The event, sponsored by long-term Seashell supporter Morson Group, hopes to raise up to £4,000 for inclusive swimming lessons in the Seashell Trust pool at its Cheadle Hulme campus.
Joanna Mahoney, Seashell Swim manager, will be pulling on her wetsuit and representing the trust in the New Year's Day challenge.
She said: “I am honoured Seashell Trust has been named the charity for the NYD Swim. It means a lot not only to our sport departments but to all our students and users who come and use our facilities. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who is attending the swim and supporting us and all our students here at Seashell Trust. Bring it on!”
Dave Quartermain, director of Uswim said, “Throughout the year our open water swims and events in the Dock attracts over fifteen thousand swimmers so our annual ‘New Years Day Charity Swim’ is a way of giving something back and is a challenging, fun way to start the year. Come and join in!”
