Bringing the seaside to Seashell
Volunteers from Equity Housing brought the a bit of the seaside to Seashell Trust.
After getting their hands dirty with a bit of much-needed gardening, the seven staff ran a seaside-themed sensory session with the students from Royal School Manchester.
As many of the students have poor vision and hearing, all the senses were used in the messy play with sand, ice cream tasting, singing seaside songs and seaside sounds and making collages.
Adele Bates, from Equity Housing, said: “What a fantastic day, it was a real privilege to be able to give sometime to an organisation such as the Seashell Trust. Equity Housing will definitely be re-visiting Seashell Trust again in the near future to carry out more volunteering days.”
Denese Paver, Seashell Trust's volunteer co-ordinator, said: “It was a very successful day with lots of interaction and music. Everyone all had lots of fun.”
