Royal College students celebrate end of era at prom

Student Michael Bennett dressed up and ready to party

Royal College Manchester students celebrated their leavers prom in style.

Family and friends waved off the 12 students in limos on their way to the party at the Hilton Manchester Airport.

Teachers and carers from the Seashell Trust-run college in Cheadle Hulme were on hand to make sure the momentous occasion was marked in a special way.

Every student was presented with an award by the head of college Bernie White before a meal and disco.

Bernie said: “We are very proud of the achievements students have made whilst at Royal College Manchester. Each student has faced their own challenges and achieved targets for learning and leave us with valuable skills in communication, life and work skills.

“All have learnt to use their voice, whether through sign, speech, picture communication or technology. They express their needs and preferences and can make choices and decisions that give them more control over their daily lives.

“We wish all of the young people the best of luck for the future as they progress into supported work, supported living and adult services.”
