Big-hearted golfers swung into action to support the Seashell Trust.

Fred Finley used his Captain's Charity Day at Didsbury Golf Club to raise much-needed funds for our students.

Some 24 teams took to part in the fourball better ball competition with club members Andy Royle, Ben Pierce, Jeff Wheelans, Martin Barlow (pictured with their prize of new golf shoes and Fred Finley) holing out winners.

The day raised over £3,000 which will be used to support our children and young people with complex disabilities.

Dominic Tinner, Seashell's head of fundraising, said: “We are so grateful to Fred for choosing Seashell Trust to benefit from his golf day. Heartfelt thanks to everyone that supported the day, which will make a huge difference to the work we can do here.”

Chairman of Stockport-based refurbishment business FT Finley, Fred has had relationship with the charity for over 50 years. In 1960s he installed the acoustic treatment in the classrooms at the trust - then named the Royal Schools for the Deaf.

Fred said: “We could not have asked for better weather or a bigger turnout on the day. Ever since working at the charity, soundproofing the classrooms in 1960, I have always had a lean towards the school, and decided to make them my charity four years ago.”
