Sodexo staff rise to Three Peaks Challenge

Sodexo team on route to completing the Three Peaks Challenge

A team from Sodexo and Astra Zeneca took on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Seashell Trust.

Walkers have 24 hours to scale the three largest mountains in the UK, beginning in Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis, driving on to Scafell Pike and finishing with Mount Snowdon.

After ascending a total of 3,407 metres and travelling 462 miles, the eight members of staff from the facilities management company completed the challenge in 23 hours 45 mins.

The feat raised over £3,000 which will be split between Seashell Trust, the East Cheshire Hospice, StopHunger and Ambitious About Autism.

John Moores, from Sodexo, said: “What an amazing 24 hours. I’m really proud of what we achieved as a team. What shall we do next?”

Seashell Trust is a charity which cares for and educates some of the most profoundly disabled children and young people in the country

Sodexo has long been a supporter of the charity raising much-needed funds, volunteering, and offering work placements for Seashell Trust students.

Wendy Bray, from Seashell Trust, said: “We are in awe of the team for their achievement not only in completing the challenge but also the amount they managed to raise. The children and young people here will benefit enormously from their efforts. We feel very lucky to have this special partnership with Sodexo and Astra Zeneca who continue to do so much for us.”

Another Sodexo employee is also leaping into action for Seashell Trust. Rob Watson is aiming to raise £500 by jumping out of plane on Friday, July 10. To sponsor the skydive, go to www.sponsorme.co.uk/robertwatson/seashell-trust-skydive-2015
