Swimmers make big (and very cold) splash for Seashell

USwim's New Year’s Day swim in Salford Quays raised over £4,300 for Seashell Trust.
Brave swimmers negotiated inflatable iceberg buoys along a 200m course in very chilly conditions.
Karen Smith, from the event organisers outdoor swimming specialists USwim, said: “The New Year's Day Swim was a fantastic success as always, with near 230 swimmers braving the harsh five degree waters to raise money for Seashell Trust.
“We cannot thank all the volunteers and our Uswim staff who kindly donated their time to support this fundraiser enough. We couldnt be happier. What a fabulous cause and knowing the money raised is going directly to the swimming programme is the icing on the cake.”
Joanna Mahoney, Seashell Swim manager, said: “It was a fantastic day and I thank each and every one who took part, including all the volunteers and of course Uswim for putting on the event.
“Uswim raised an impressive £4,365 for Seashell Trust and the money will be used to buy equipment for our students for their swimming sessions and also for transport to have a go at open water swimming themselves in the summer. We couldn’t do half the things we want too without the support from the community.”
Seashell Trust runs community swimming lessons for all ages and abilities Monday-Saturday. Call 0161 610 0100 or visit our website for details.
