Trust scores team shirt showcase from mystery sponsor

A children's football team in Salford is following in the famous footsteps of Barcelona and showcasing a charity on their team kit.

The Spanish team famously refused lucrative shirt sponsorship deals and donated the space to children's charity UNICEF.

A mystery benefactor has sponsored De La Salle FC under 8s team new away kit. But rather than having a business logo splashed across the front of the shirts, offered to raise the profile of a good cause.

Jo Barber, part of our fundraising team and parent of the one of the players, suggested Seashell Trust.

International triathlete campaigns for disabled classification for all

An international triathlete is campaigning to have disabled athlete classifications at all standards not just elite level.

Seashell Trust teacher Maureen Wilkins represents Great Britain in age group triathlon and duathlon, and is an endurance and athletics coach at Stockport Harriers.

Sport and being active is a vital part of life for our students' health and enjoyment.

Seashell Trust gym celebrates decade of fitness

The Seashell Trust Fitness Suite is celebrating 10 years of keeping the charity's students and the wider community healthy no matter what the individual's ability.

To celebrate the trust is holding a coffee morning for all past and present gym users on Wednesday, October 28, 10:30-12:30pm in at Seashell Trust's common room on the Stanley Road campus. Anyone interested in becoming a member is also welcome to drop in for a tour.

Seashell Sportive raises £11,000

15th October 2015

The Seashell Trust cycle sportive raised £11,000.

Some 150 cyclists took part in the fundraising ride sponsored by construction business Morgan Sindall and Slater Heelis solicitors.

It took place over three distances – 30 miles, 60 miles and 100 miles -  through the Cheshire and Derbyshire countryside and finishing at the Seashell Trust's Cheadle Hulme campus.

Bar mitzvah bike challenge raises £600

A King David High School pupil has decided to celebrate his bar mitzvah by rising to a charity challenge set by his parents.

In the Jewish faith, bar mitzvah is the celebration of entering adult life, often with traditional ceremonies and parties.

Vered Hofton, from Gatley, Stockport, said: “We wanted to make it more contemporary so we asked our son Ethan to do charity work or get involved in something so he will feel he is contributing in the community.

Volunteering helps schoolboy dive into paid employment

A Manchester Grammar pupil has found volunteering pays off in more ways than one.

Cameron Brown, 17 , from Bramhall, is just one of the many people every year who find paid employment with skills learned through volunteering.

He will leave school with valuable workplace experience as well as qualifications as well as his academic achievements after volunteering at Seashell Trust.

F&G Commercials putt themselves into first place at golf day

The Seashell Trust's golf day holed out with an amazing £8,000 raised.

The annual Stableford competition at Wilmslow Golf Club attracted 27 teams from across the North West

Winners were F&G Commercials, with teams from MACE and Arighi Bianchi in second and third place.

Jo Barber, from Seashell Trust, said: “The weather was wonderful, so everyone had a really enjoyable day. We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year for the golf day’s 21st anniversary on Thursday, September 8.”

Laltex team conquers three peaks challenge for Seashell

A team of friends scaled the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales to raise money for Seashell Trust.

Carl Price, Alex White and Catherine Tye took on the National Three Peaks Challenge over three days.

Carl, finance controller at the the import and distribution firm Laltex, based in Leigh, said: “I turned 40 earlier this year and wanted to mark the year with something, so decided upon this challenge and raise some money along the way.

Top tech award for Seashell music volunteer

A Seashell Trust volunteer has won a top technology award for her work with profoundly disabled children.

Rachael Moat, a Stockport-based clarinet teacher and musician, has been named Tech4Good's IT Volunteer of the Year. She was nominated for developing low-cost customised music technology, in order to encourage the students at Royal School Manchester to interact with their surroundings.

Family and friends took part in the 'happiest 5k on earth' to celebrate the life of colourful character Craig Sellers who died suddenly earlier this year.

A group of around 30 people joined in the Color Run where runners are bombarded with brightly coloured powder around the 5km course at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

They were raising money in memory of business owner Craig, from Greave, Woodley, who died in January aged 50.
