What Does Seashell Trust Provide?
Seashell Trust provides specialist education, residential care and therapeutic services for children and young people aged 2 to 25 with complex and severe learning disabilities combined with significant communication difficulties, including little or no oral language.
We are home to the Royal School Manchester, a non-maintained special school, and the Royal College Manchester, an Independent Specialist Further Education College. Both the school and college based provisions can incorporate residential care options, if required. Care is provided in one of our 17 high quality, 4 bedroom houses which are situated onsite.
We also provide a range of short break options, including services which support children and young people on the edge of care. Short break services can be accessed by children and young people who receive their educational provision at the Royal School or Royal College, Manchester or by children and young people who access their education elsewhere.
In addition to our in-reach services we provide a range of outreach services locally, regionally and nationally via our highly regarded Outreach Service. This includes the provision of detailed assessment reports, direct work with children and young people within a range of mainstream and specialist settings, supporting the continuous professional development of staff or providing consultancy support on a range SEND issues.
We support children and young people with one, or more, of the following conditions:
- Autism spectrum conditions
- Deafblindness/multi-sensory impairment
- Hearing impairment with additional needs
- Profound and multiple learning disabilities
- Auditory processing disorder
- Hearing impairment, including cortical visual impairment with additional needs
- Additional medical needs including progressive and degenerative conditions
Whilst this list is reflective of the vast majority of the children and young people for whom we provide specialist services and support, the list is not exhaustive. Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss the specific needs of any child or young person for whom you may require support.
