Seashell Trust wins best not for profit at Stockport Business Awards 2016

Seashell Trust has been named best not for profit organisation at the Stockport Business Awards.

We support children and young adults with complex learning disabilities and additional communication needs from across the UK at our Ofsted-judged outstanding school and college and care homes in Cheadle Hulme.

The award sponsored by Ashcroft Creative Design was presented to Seashell Trust at a gala dinner at Stockport Town Hall.

A fresh Group way to meet needs of our students

Creative events business The fresh Group has teamed up with industry charity Meeting Needs to provide Seashell Trust with vital funds.

The 80-strong fresh team, based in Cheadle, have supported Seashell Trust since 2013 through production of their annual charity ball, general design and marketing support and fundraising.

Which student 'Apprentice' team will raise most for Seashell Trust?

Seashell Trust is cashing in on the popularity of TV's The Apprentice by sponsoring the search for business leaders of the future – while raising its profile and much-needed funds at the same time.

We have joined forces with Stockport business initiative Gander as it launches its Young Business of the Year competition.

Teams of students from Aquinas, Cheadle and Marple, and Stockport colleges will receive a start-up fund of £50 from Seashell Trust to set up a company and come up with creative ways to make as much money as possible in the allotted time.

Seashell Sportive 2016 brings in a massive £10,000

Seashell Trust supporters saddled up to raise £10,000 on their third annual cycling sportive sponsored by the Carillion Morgan Sindall joint venture.

Some 170 riders took on the 30, 60 or 100-mile routes through the Cheshire and Derbyshire countryside to raise money for our students.

Some of the money raised will go towards buying specialist bicycles so they will also get to experience the thrill of cycling.

Corporate teams including event sponsor Carillion Morgan Sindall, WHR Property and PZ Cussons took part, with the AECOM team alone over £1,000.

ACT Foundation trustees officially open Gostling House

Seashell Trust has opened the doors to a state-of-the-art residential home for its college students with profound disabilities.

Trustees from the ACT Foundation officially opened Gostling House, a twin two-bedroom large bungalow named after one of its former chairs.

The grant-making charity, which generates investment income from a property portfolio, donated £500,000 towards the appeal for the new houses.

Seashell Trust's Hayley Rose has been shortlisted in the Manchester PA of the Year awards.

Manchester PA Network awards sponsored by recruitment specialists Robert Walters recognises outstanding excellence among support professionals in Greater Manchester.

Hayley, who supports our CEO and principal Mark Geraghty, has been nominated in the Above and Beyond category. Hayley has over 10 years of experience as a personal assistant, having previously worked at the NSPCC and Esure Insurance.

RBS bank win as golf day raises record amount for Seashell Trust

Seashell Trust's annual golf day raised a record £10,800 for its profoundly disabled students, smashing last year's total by £2,000

The Morson Group-sponsored competition at Wilmslow golf club was won by the RBS team from Macclesfield.

The team of Andrew Adshead, from RBS Corporate Banking; Dave Peel, in Private Banking at RBS; Andy Heywood, a financial advisor for Josolynes and RBS client Rodney Gorton; beat second placed HSBC and Barclays in third.

Dan's transport team wins award from Kirklees Council

Seashell superstar student Dan Snee's award-winning ways are rubbing off.

Now his support workers Julia James, Judith Pinfold and Lesley Ferrara have won an award from Kirklees Council.

Dan, who is 16 and is  registered deafblind and has severe development delay, severe autism, sensory processing dysfunction, epilepsy and no speech, lives in Fixby in Huddersfield - some 40 miles away from Royal School Manchester here at Seashell Trust.

Please help rebuild our forest school after lightning strike

Seashell Trust has launched an appeal after our forest school burned down after being struck by lightning during last week's freak thunderstorm.

Fire spread through the roof of the wooden building after the bolt of lightning hit around 9pm.

The contents were destroyed along with large part of the building.

Mark Geraghty, CEO and principal of the Seashell Trust, said: “It has been extensively damaged but thankfully nobody was hurt.

Pair's epic 620-mile hike across Spain for Seashell Trust

A pair of university graduates from Sheffield are planning to walk across Spain to raise money for a charity for disabled children.

Luke Dakin and Fran Aversa, both 22, from Loxley, Sheffield, were so moved by the amazing work of the Seashell Trust they decided to hike through the centre of Spain in October.

The pair met while Luke was studying film and tv and Fran was studying occupational therapy at York St John University.

Construction firm Carillion Morgan Sindall is fitting a new pathway through Seashell Trust's sensory garden.

The current path is wooden planks and unusable in the wet weather.

Seashell Trust students all have multiple complex disabilities including visual impairment and physical disabilites, including balance issues.

Morson Group unveiled as Seashell Trust golf day sponsor

Seashell Trust is proud to announce Morson Group as sponsor for its annual golf day.

The Salford-based engineering recruitment firm is supporting the competition at Wilmslow golf club on Thursday, September 8.

We are hoping to top £8,000 raised 2015.

The ever-popular event hosts 140 prestigious guests from local and national corporates, with one regular even flying in from Italy ever year, at the Stableford competition.
