PZ Cussons raises £8,000: challenge yourself to feel fab too!

Do you feel like the motivation for your new year's resolution is fading a bit in February?

How about giving yourself something to aim for and maybe get some friends or colleagues involved to help keep you going?

That is what long-term Seashell Trust supporters PZ Cussons did when they dedicated last year to ‘Feel Fab for 2016’.

Not only did staff get together to take on a series of challenges in 12 months of getting fit but they had the added motivation of raising money for Seashell Trust.

HURST hands over £9,000 for new gym kit after fundraising year

We are splashing out on gym equipment after accountancy firm HURST donated more than £9,000 .

Staff at the firm raised a total of £9,236.56 from activities including a football tournament, office tuck shop and quiz night, after Seashell was named its charity of the year for 2016

A 13-strong HURST team also completed the Three Peaks Challenge - scaling the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in under 24 hours.

Heather Potter, our health and fitness development officer, said the money from HURST would make a huge difference to the lives of our students.

Seashell fitness volunteer Brett's rehab story inspires £500 donation

Rehabilitation specialists have been inspired by one of their brain injury survivors to donate £500 to Seashell Trust.

Rehab Without Walls client Brett Arnold is a volunteer fitness instructor at Seashell Trust's fully integrated gym. He uses his experience of coming back from a traumatic injury to encourage other disabled people to use fitness facilities and enjoy an active life.

Theatre group Junior Stage 60's generous act

A South Manchester-based amateur dramatics group has donated £500 to Seashell Trust.

Junior Stage 80 staged four sell-out performances of Oliver! at Sale Waterside Arts Centre in December.

Cast member Andrew Farley's son James, who is 17 from Bramhall and who has an autism spectrum condition, has recently started attending at Seashell Trust..

Andrew played the miserable Mr Sowerberry in the production of Oliver and trod the boards alongside his other sons Daniel and Julian.

Seashell Trust awarded £250,000 from the LIBOR fund for a new hydrotherapy pool

The Government has announced that the Seashell Trust is set to receive a boost of £250,000 to fund a new hydrotherapy pool at their Cheadle Hulme campus.

The money will be a welcome investment for the Trust who are in the process of trying to raise £45 million to regenerate the campus and bring it up to the standard needed for their children.

Seashell Trust Head to Chair National Review

The head of Stockport’s Seashell Trust is to lead a Department of Education review into England’s residential special schools.

Mark Geraghty, Chief Executive of the Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme, has been asked to co-chair the high-level review alongside the Director of the Council for Disabled Children, Dame Christine Lenehan.

The review will probe England’s current residential special schools provision and is expected to define practical steps for the Government and other agencies to help support the charities providing care for young people with complex needs.

Seashell Trust celebrates £2,500 gift from Patron's Fund

Seashell Trust is celebrating after receiving £2,500 from The Patron’s Fund.

The charitable fund was set up for the Queen's 90th birthday last year to acknowledge the work of organisations of which Her Majesty is Patron.

The trust has enjoyed royal patronage since 1897 and the Queen herself visited us in 2004.

Morson Group end charity year with £80,000 donation to Seashell

Long-time Seashell Trust supporter Morson Group raised £160,000 to be shared between their chosen 2016 charities as voted for by employees.

A cheque for an £80,000 share was officially presented to Seashell Trust representative Wendy Bray at Morson head office in a luncheon event attended by the Morson charity committee and Group CEO Ged Mason.

It follows a year of extensive fundraising from Morson Group staff across the country.

Swimmers make big (and very cold) splash for Seashell

USwim's New Year’s Day swim in Salford Quays raised over £4,300 for Seashell Trust.

Brave swimmers negotiated inflatable iceberg buoys along a 200m course in very chilly conditions.

Karen Smith, from the event organisers outdoor swimming specialists USwim, said: “The New Year's Day Swim was a fantastic success as always, with near 230 swimmers braving the harsh five degree waters to raise money for Seashell Trust.

MBE for Seashell Trust's head of Family Services

Seashell Trust is proud to announce its head of Family Services, Sherann Hillman has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours.

Sherann, who is also chair of Parent in Partnership Stockport (PIPS) and the co-chair of the National Network of parent Carer Forums (NNPCF), was honoured for services to children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Disabled students from the Seashell Trust enjoyed a Christmas ceilidh to celebrate the festive season.

Irish dancer James Keegan, Michael Flatley’s successor in Lord of the Dance, to dance with the students

Wythenshawe pipe and drum band Fianna Phadriag with their own Irish dancing star: Sharon Stubbs gave the students from the Cheadle Hulme charity a taste of Celtic culture.

Brave enough to make a splash for Seashell at new year's day swim?

Brave swimmers will be welcoming the new year with a icy splash in Salford Quays to raise money for disabled swimmers at Seashell Trust.

Swimmers at set to take the plunge into a 200m course made up of inflatable iceberg buoys, organised by outdoor swimming specialists Uswim.

The event, sponsored by long-term Seashell supporter Morson Group, hopes to raise up to £4,000 for inclusive swimming lessons in the Seashell Trust pool at its Cheadle Hulme campus.
