Cyclists: RideLondon 100 places on Team Seashell up for grabs

Seashell Trust has managed to bag five places in the prestigious cycling Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 event this year.

The sold-out sportive, which attracts around 25,000 amateur riders to the start line each year, takes place on Sunday, July 29

Following in the tyre tracks of the heroes of the 2012 Games, the leg-busting 100-mile route on closed roads will start in the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and include the infamous Box Hill before finishing on The Mall.

Will you help our students to fly high at Bendrigg activity centre?

Seashell Trust needs to raise £14,000 to send our students on an residential activity trip to the Lake District which could change their lives.

Scott Straughan, an infrastructure delivery manager, at Lloyds Banking in Wythenshawe, has already raised £1,000 for the trip after running the Great North Run in 2017, following as year of fundraising challenges he took on with his wife Justine in 2015 which raised £2,000.

They will be raising money to give Seashell Trust students, like Jake Redfern and Antony Zichlarz pictured above enjoying the our summer festival, the best life possible.

Stockport Council Planning Decision Statement

11th January 2018

At the meeting of Stockport Council’s Planning and Highways Committee on 11 January members voted 7 to 5 against the planning officials’ recommendation to approve.

Following the decision Mark Geraghty, Chief Executive of Seashell Trust, said:

”We are obviously very disappointed and somewhat surprised by the committee’s decision to go against the planning officers’ recommendation and refuse our application for the new school and campus at Seashell Trust.

Sale Sharks with Seashell Trust student

Seashell students' scrum fun with Sale Sharks

Premiership team Sale Sharks will be bringing rugby to Seashell Trust students.

The ten-week programme will be run by Sale Sharks Community Trust in early 2018.

It is part of ‘In the Pack’ programme tailored for people who have additional and special needs, both physical and learning impairments, and aims to encourage people to become more active in an inclusive way.

Hallé viola player helps students communicate through music

A symphony orchestra viola player is using the power of music to help our students with complex disabilities communicate.

Hallé Orchestra viola player Chris Emerson is leading seven 'natural world' themed music sessions at Seashell Trust this term, thanks to PZ Cussons’ sponsorship of the Hallé’s education programme.

Drivers fuel generous donation to change students' lives

Drivers in Wilmslow are changing lives of our young disabled people with their spare change.

The M&S store at the BP garage in Alderley Road has been collecting coppers from its customers.

Deputy store manager Steven Gavin handed over a cheque for £2,100 to our students Erin and Cayman.

He said: “The support we have received from our customers has been amazing.  We are so proud to be able to support this wonderful local charity.”

Seashell School Campus Recommended for Approval

The plan to build a new school and campus at Seashell Trust for children and young people with special needs has been recommended for approval by planners.

Planning officials from Stockport Council have today published their detailed report on the application which will see a new £45m campus developed on the site at Stanley Road, Cheadle Hulme, and recommended that the development is approved.

Hero hearing dog Chance rescues collapsed woman

They only stayed overnight by chance but Chance the hero hearing dog rescued a woman who had collapsed.

June Battye, British Sign Language teacher here at Seashell Trust, was visiting friends Joan Proctor and her husband Stephen in Congleton.

June, who is deaf, was accompanied by her hearing dog Chance, a six-year-old black miniature poodle.

Seashell's home-from-home family flat gets a facelift from LOFT

Families who can live up to hundreds of miles away from their profoundly disabled children can now stay in newly refurbished home-from-home flat when they visit them at Seashell Trust.

More than a dozen years in constant use had taken its toll on our two-bedroomed visitors' accomodation.

Seashell Trust art is fit for the Queen in palace exhibition

Artwork by students from Seashell Trust has taken pride of place at an exhibition in Buckingham Palace.

Our students made the embellished felt artwork as a 90th birthday gift for the Queen, who is the patron of Seashell Trust.

The exhibition, viewed by half a million visitors, was curated from thousands of gifts the monarch has received during her 65-year reign.

The Seashell picture was one of just 200 items selected and was displayed in the Ball Supper Room at the Queen's official residence in London.
