Coronation Street star Cherylee Houston has been unveiled as Seashell Trust’s new ambassador.

And the actress and campaigner, who plays Izzy Armstrong on the famous cobbles, has been using the power of drama to help the increase the possibility of employment for our College students.

Cherylee, who uses a wheelchair due to a rare connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, brought her TripleC artists’ collective to the Trust’s centre of excellence in Cheadle Hulme.

Students end time at Seashell Trust with a perfect prom

Seashell Trust college students celebrated their graduation with a glamorous prom.

The class of 2018 travelled to their prom at the Hilton Hotel Manchester Airport with style in a variety of luxury vehicles including Bentleys and Rolls Royce.

Students graduate the Seashell Trust-run Royal College Manchester aged around 22 years old and all have complex learning disabilities and communication difficulties.

Game, set and match Seashell Trust at Boodles Tennis at the Mere

Seashell Trust has netted £4,035 thanks to the generous guests at the 2018 Boodles Tennis at the Mere event.

Legends from the world of tennis including Henri Laconte Henri Leconte, Richard Krajicek and Barbara Schett entertained guests of internationally renowned jewellers, Boodles, in the delightful setting of The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford.

Ultimate saddles up as latest Seashell sportive sponsor

Ultimate Creative Communications, one of the North-West's leading creative agencies, based in Knutsford in Cheshire, has signed up as the latest sponsor of the 2018 Seashell Trust charity sportive.

A feature of the Seashell Trust sportive is the quality of its feed-stations en route, providing sustenance and encouragement to the riders. The staff team at Ultimate Creative Communications will be running the largest of these at Flash, the highest village in England.

Hair salon's fundraising birthday party is a cut above

A Cheadle Hulme hair and beauty salon celebrated its fifth birthday by raising money for Seashell Trust.

Vibe Hair and Beauty Salon hosted a ladies evening with prosecco, canapés, shopping and beauty treatments and collected £663.

The staff popped over to visit the trust’s national centre of excellence also in Cheadle Hulme with their donation and met some of the students the money will help.

Lyme designs perfect golf day fundraiser for Seashell Trust

Hazel Grove construction firm Lyme Design & Build teed off an amazing day of fundraising for Seashell Trust at Hazel Grove Golf Club.

The 76 golfers holed out having raised £8,000.

The event was won by the team from Hazel Grove health and safety business HS Direct.

Golfers enjoyed a halfway house barbecue and golf buggy beer service out on the course followed by a dinner for 100 people at the club, where the bring-a-bottle barrow of booze auction raised over £800 alone.

Why Seashell Trust's Bee in the City is the bee all and end all

As all of Manchester is buzzing about the official start of the Bee in the City street sculpture trail, Seashell Trust is set to unveil a unique creation every art lover will want to get their hands on.

While the more than one hundred giant bees will be a feast for the eyes, many people will miss out on their beauty through disability.

We made sure we considered the needs of all Mancunians in its design of our ‘Shellbee’.

Seashell aims high with new Saturday CADs youth club

Seashell Trust has launched a Saturday morning youth club due to popular demand.

It has welcomed its first group of 15 children and young people after its sports and wellbeing department secured £10,000 from Stockport Council’s Aiming High service.

There are already plans to increase to 30 places for ages five-25-year-olds with range of different needs with referrals from the Aiming High Short Breaks team.

Students get hands-on learning with smart table from Equity Housing

Cheadle housing association Equity Housing has donated a £5,000 multi-media smart table to help Seashell Trust's profoundly disabled students learn and play.

It will be an invaluable touchscreen tool for our assistive technologist Sarah Keddy to use with the young people who attend our Royal Manchester School.

Many have complex conditions including significant learning difficulties compounded by additional disabilities such as deafness, blindness, deafblindness, autism, physical disability and a number of rare syndromes.

Seashell Trust submits planning appeal

Seashell Trust has submitted an appeal against the decision of Stockport Council Planning Committee which earlier this year refused permission for a school and campus transformation on the site at Cheadle Hulme.

The Board of Trustees of Seashell Trust which provides education and support for children and young adults with extremely complex disabilities, this week filed its appeal against the decision which they believe is ‘fundamentally flawed and grossly unfair’ and has pledged to fight for the future of its students.

Stoller minibus boosts short breaks offer for Oldham families

More profoundly disabled children will now be able to enjoy specialist short breaks at Seashell Trust after a charity donated a wheelchair-accessible minibus.

The Stoller Charitable Trust, based in Oldham, made the grant for the new vehicle, which can accommodate two wheelchairs and seven seats including the driver. It will enable Seashell Trust to extend its short breaks offering to eligible Oldham families who are caring for children or young people with complex needs.

Boutique coffee company to fuel Seashell's sportive cyclists

26th June 2018

Mobile coffee brewer Stomping Ground Coffee is the official provider of coffee for Seashell Trust's charity sportive this year.

The Seashell Trust sportive on Sunday, September 16, 2018 aims to attract up to 300 cyclists to enter one of four different routes that take in the beautiful countryside of Cheshire, the Peak District and Staffordshire.
