Seashell Trust in the spotlight at Shine a Light Awards

National charity Seashell Trust has been recognised for its outstanding work in supporting children and young people who use AAC at the Shine a Light ceremony held on Thursday 22nd March. The annual event celebrates excellence in speech, language and communication provision, and was hosted by British comic actress and writer, Sally Phillips with entertainment from Britain's Got Talent winner, Lee Ridley (Lost Voice Guy).

Seashell Trust's $5,000 grant from Million Dollar Round Table Foundation

Seashell Trust has been awarded a $5,000 (£3,800) grant from the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation to continue its outreach work supporting families of children and young people with complex needs.

The MDRT Foundation is committed to building stronger families and communities, through its global grants programs. This year, foundation will award over $1 million in grants to more than 200 charitable organisations worldwide.

MP Mary Robinson opens Seashell Trust’s 3G inclusive sports pitch

Seashell Trust's new floodlit 3G sports pitch was officially opened by Mary Robinson, MP for Cheadle at our Stanley Road campus in Stockport.

The new full-size pitch was made possible thanks to £500,000 grant from the Premier League and The FA through the Government's Football Foundation together with generous match funding from PZ Cussons.

As part of our wider redevelopment, the new all-weather pitch and accessible changing facilities will provide year-round activity opportunities for Seashell Trust’s Royal School Manchester and Royal College Manchester students.

Amazing apprenticeship levy gift from Sapphire Accounting

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Wilmslow-based Sapphire Accounting.

The accountancy firm is transferring 10% of its apprenticeship levy to Seashell to enable us to fund more apprenticeships for existing and new staff.

Any business can gift up to 10% of their overall levy to another business as it is a ‘use it or lose it’ tax. It is estimated only 8% of the total £1.28bn in apprentice levies paid over the last 12 months have been used so there is a huge amount of opportunity for companies to transfer their levy to charities.

Law firms go the extra mile for Seashell Trust sportive

Leading Manchester law firms Beyond Corporate Law and McAlister Family Law, part of the Beyond Professional Services Group, are to be principal sponsors of the Seashell Trust charity sportive.

Taking place on Sunday, September 15, 2019, the event will start and finish at our campus in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. The event is expected to attract around 500 riders.

Now firmly in the North West sportive cycling calendar the four routes on offer, from 50km up to a gruelling 170km route, take in some of the best countryside the region has to offer.

Seashell Trust's half-term CADs is a recordbreaker

Seashell Trust’s award-winning inclusive sport programme CADS is celebrating a record number of participants.

Over 80 young people attended our two-day half-term holiday sports camp in Cheadle Hulme.

Some 74 disabled children with a range of complex needs and 14 of their non-disabled peers and siblings enjoyed activities together, including swimming, arts and crafts, drama, tennis, and tri-golf.

Parents travel from far afield to ensure their child can attend as CADS, established over 15 years, is the only inclusive event of its kind in the region.

Trio of trailblazers to take on ultra-marathon in Sri Lanka

A trailblazing trio are more than getting into their ultra-fundraising stride for Seashell Trust.

Luke Kuhn and Conor Ray, from professional services business Christie & Co, and Jacques Potgieter, a graduate surveyor with Sanderson Weatherall, are taking part in the five-day Ultra X Sri Lanka.

The adventurous trio, who were all brought up in Cape Town, South Africa, are taking part in a 250km ultra-marathon for Seashell Trust in April.

Seashell Trust's personal assistant to the chief executive swapped her high heels and the boardroom for hiking boots and Africa’s highest mountain to raise money for our students.

Hayley Rose took on the six-day ascent of Kilimanjaro and finally reached the peak at dawn after a gruelling final 8.5-hour overnight trek.
