Sofia Gawlyk has been part of Seashell’s family since she was two years old. Next year she is planning to move from our special school to college.

Giant sculpture of a bee is back at Seashell Trust

Seashell is buzzing about the return of Shellbee, our Bee in the City

Seashell Trust has been a hive of activity in preparation for the return of its acclaimed Bee in the City.

It was enjoyed by thousands of visitors over the summer at the Royal Exchange theatre in Manchester’s city centre as the only bee on the trail with an inside location.

The 101 sculptures were then shown off in a full swarm for the last time at the National Cycling Centre’s Velodrome before either being auctioned off for Lord Mayor of Manchester’s We Love MCR Charity or returning to their community makers.

A new era of sport has kicked off at Seashell Trust.

The state-of-the-art 3G pitch has hosted its first footballers. Cheadle and Gatley JFC has moved its training sessions to our Stanley Road campus

The junior players, aged between 8 and 12, are taking advantage of the all-weather pitch.

Seashell Trust is ten today!

On November 7, 2008 the former Royal Schools for the Deaf, now a national centre of excellence in care and special education, took inspiration from its heritage and long-term logo - the conch shell, with the shape of the cochlear or inner ear.

The 185-year-old charity had expanded its original remit to such an extent it needed a new name to reflect its 21st century role working with children affected by some of the most complex disabilities in the country.

Pedal power pushes cyclists to raise £17,000 in Seashell Sportive

A record entry of over 320 riders signed up for this year’s Seashell charity cycling sportive and in the process raised over £17,000 for the charity’s work.

Starting from the Seashell Trust campus in Cheadle Hulme, the cyclists from across the North West, set off on four different riders. A 50km around the Cheshire countryside; a more challenging 70km one which took in a few hills in the Derbyshire Peak; a 100km ride explored some of the amazing scenery in Staffordshire; and, the lung-busting £170km route ventured round all three counties taking in 16 listed hill climbs.

We are the best not-for-profit in the borough - AGAIN!

Seashell Trust has been crowned Best Not-For-Profit Organisation at the Stockport Business Awards for the second time in three years.

The annual ceremony, hosted by TV presenter Jenny Powell, was organised by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants at Stockport Town Hall.

Darren Ashcroft, from category sponsor Ashcroft Creative Design, presented the award to representatives from the charity including director and trustee Julie Besbrode.

Seashell Trust has kicked off its bid to become a centre of inclusive sport as the final touches are being put to its state-of-the-art 3G sports pitch.

It is adding the all-weather facility to its campus as part of its ongoing commitment to improve access to top quality facilities for its students and the community.

A long list of local organisations and teams have already signed up to take advantage of the brand new third generation artificial grass pitch.

Sign up for Knockout fundraising fun for our fantastic students

Seashell Trust is looking for people to get gunged and dunked in some knockabout knockout fun for a good cause.

Our It’s A Knockout will help some of the most vulnerable children in the country at our special school, college and residential homes in Cheadle Hulme.

The young people face tremendous physical challenges every day but enjoy rising to them and now we are challenging teams to take on Teletubby Challenge, the Cannon Run, and the Ultimate Relay on the Knockout course.

MyHearing is the latest sponsor of Seashell sportive

Newly-launched independent hearing solutions company, MyHearing, has signed up as the latest sponsor of the 2018 Seashell Trust charity sportive.

Formerly the Royal School for the Deaf Manchester founded in 1823, Seashell Trust now caters exclusively for the country’s most profoundly disabled children and young people who additionally have little or no ability to communicate verbally.  A significant proportion have a hearing impairment.
