Finnish consul brings 'real' Father Christmas to visit from Lapland

The 'REAL' Father Christmas made a extra-special early visit all the way from Lapland to meet the students at Seashell Trust, courtesy of the Finnish Embassy.

The big man in the red suit toured the classrooms meeting students and staff from the charity which educates and cares for profoundly disabled children from across the country.

He was accompanied by Honorary Consul of Finland for Manchester Chris Rostron and his wife Eja and the Mayor of Stockport Councillor Chris Gordon.

Brain injury survivor Brett trains to be fitness instructor at our gym

A brain injury survivor who volunteers at Seashell Trust is celebrating graduation from a programme to get disabled people into the fitness sector.

Brett Arnold, 33, from St Anne's Road, Denton, has volunteered twice a week at Seashell Trust's gym for the past year after a placement there for his Level 3 InstructAbility personal fitness course.

Ofsted: Royal School Manchester is OUTSTANDING!

For the third successive inspection, the Seashell Trust-run Royal School Manchester has been top rated by Ofsted.

What a result - HURST football tournament scores £1,700 for Seashell

Private banking and wealth management firm Brown Shipley triumphed at HURST’s annual charity five-a-side football tournament for the second year in a row.

A total of £1,700 was raised for Seashell Trust, which is HURST’s charity of the year.

Fifteen teams took part in the sixth annual competition, which was held at the Lucozade Powerleague Trafford Soccerdome.

Final Detail Of Application For £45m School Campus Submitted

The Seashell Trust has submitted further important details with regards to its ongoing planning application to develop a new school and campus to provide specialist care for children with complex learning difficulties.

The Cheadle Hulme special school submitted the initial plans for the campus transformation project in February of this year (2016). The plans include the demolition of the dated school buildings, development of a new school, family support services, residential accommodation for students and new sports facilities which will be available for public use.

Staff from a car rental firm will be donning the iconic red suits and big beards - and trainers - to deliver Christmas treats to Seashell Trust's profoundly disabled students – and they want you to join in the festive fun too!

Around 40 Enterprise Rent A Car staff dressed as Father Christmas will run just over two miles from their Heald Green branch to deliver selection boxes to our residential students.

Seashell's signing choir performs at inaugural Lord Morris lecture

Seashell Trust's signing choir had the honour of performing at the University of Manchester’s inaugural Lord Morris of Manchester lecture.

The Disabled Staff Network's public lecture was in honour of the late Alf Morris, Lord Morris of Manchester – the world’s first Minister for Disabled People and Hon Patron of Seashell Trust.

Guest speaker Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson delivered the lecture which focused on the rights and equality of disabled people to a packed Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall at the university.

Nick's Land's End to John O'Groats ride raises £2,000

A planning consultant saddled up to take on the Land's End to John O’Groats challenge to raise money for Seashell Trust.

Nick Lee, who is managing director of south Manchester-based NJL Consulting, took part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain.

He was sponsored £2,195 to cycle the length of the UK, some 970 miles with a punishing 19,000 metres of ascent, over 9 days.

HURST staff pitch in to help us get the best out of our grounds

Staff from HURST built a 20ft high teepee and cleared eyesores during an away day at Seashell Trust.

The accountants and business advisers firm has chosen us to be their charity of the year.

Tasks carried out by the team of 38 included demolishing a derelict shed, removing rubble and weeds from the grounds, and gardening.

They also erected the teepee, which is used by students at Seashell Trust’s Forest School, a haven where they can experience nature and relax.

Seashell BSL tutor June up for national education award

Seashell Trust's sign language tutor has been nominated for a national award.

June Battye has been shortlisted in the Transforming Lives Through Education category at the Signature Annual Awards.

The event, in its eighth year, celebrates those who break down the barriers in society for deaf and deafblind people.

June, herself profoundly deaf, has been our British Sign Language tutor for over a decade. With so many of our students being hearing impaired and having communication difficulties, her expertise has been vital.

The bank chose to support our charity for a year with astonishing results.
