Grand send-off for RCM students at prom

Royal College Manchester students celebrated their graduation in classic style – arriving at their prom in classic cars

Our 16 students attended their leavers' prom at the Hilton Hotel at Manchester Airport.

Lizzie McGahey, from Seashell Trust which runs RCM, said: “The students dressed to impress. Bentley provided a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley and we also hired a limousine and a party bus so all of the students arrived in style.

“It was a fabulous evening celebrating all of the students' achievements during their time at the Seashell Trust.

The Morson team pay their respects to the fallen of the Somme at at the Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge

Morson's Somme centenary bike ride raises £5,000

A 200km cycle ride in commemoration of the Battle of the Somme centenary has raised over £5,000 for charity.

Engineering recruitment business Morson International team of 21 cyclists, including its CEO Ged Mason, cycled a 200km route will following the Battle of the Somme frontline during the year which marks its centenary.

The team visiting a number of memorials and graveyards in the area to pay their respects during the ride, including the Canadian Memorial at Vimy Ridge pictured.

Seashell school campus plans take a step forward

Plans to create a new, state-of-the-art school and campus for children and young people with special needs have taken a step forward this week.

Seashell Trust has this week released a series of images of what the new £45 million school and extensive campus development on Stanley Road, Cheadle Hulme, could look like.

Chief Executive and School Principal Mark Geraghty described the scheme: “We are very excited about the plans for the new school and today we are proud to release these fantastic images of what the school could look like as part of the new scheme.

Help Seashell golf day's 21st celebrations go with a swing

Seashell Trust' s golf day is coming of age at Wilmslow golf club on Thursday, September 8.

The annual Stableford competition, which was won last year by F&G Commercials, is celebrating its 21st year.

The event raised £8,000 in 2015 and fundraisers are hoping to top this figure and are appealing for event sponsors from the business community.

The sell-out event hosts 140 prestigious guests from local and national corporates, with one regular even flying in from Italy ever year.

RSA Manchester donate TVs for new houses

Insurers Royal & Sun Alliance made a very generous donation to Seashell Trust.

They handed over a cheque for over £1,700.

Jonathan Clark, Marc Ratcliffe and James Wright from the Manchester office visited us to see it had been used to provide televisions for some of the student houses that were recently built on site.

Hurst team completes three peaks challenge

HURST team scales the Three Peaks for Seashell Trust

12th July 2016

A team of 13 from accountants and business advisers HURST conquered the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales to raise thousands of pounds for Seashell Trust.

The intrepid group, including partner Nigel Barratt and associate partner Liz Gallagher, raised more than £6,000 by completing the Three Peaks Challenge, which involves scaling Ben Nevis (4,413ft), Scafell Pike (3,209ft) and Snowdon (3,560ft) in under 24 hours.

Corporate finance manager Ian Dawson was the fastest of the group, completing the challenge in 22 hours and 47 minutes.

A generous mystery benefactor has teamed up with Barclays to donate a Sunshine coach from Variety, the children's charity, to the Seashell Trust.

We have been presented with the £40,000 minibus, sponsored by an anonymous donor with partnership funding from Barclays Corporate in the North West.

We had a right royal time meeting princesses and watching parades at our patron Her Majesty the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations.

Five students, their families and Seashell staff shared luxury picnic hampers at the official Patron's Lunch with 10,000 representatives of the 600 charities with which the Queen is involved.

A party of students, their families and Seashell staff will be on the Mall to celebrate our patron Her Majesty the Queen's 90th birthday.

Dan named Young Personality of Year at Pride of Huddersfield awards

Superstar Seashell Trust student Daniel Snee has been named Young Personality of the Year at the Pride of Huddersfield Awards.

He accepted the honour at a glittering ceremony in front of his parents, sister Laura, and support staff from Seashell Trust and his home care team. Sadly his other very proud sister Charlotte was unable to attend due to work commitments.

Mark Shaw on Trans Pennine Trail

Co-operative Bank's Mark cycles Trans Pennine Trail for Seashell

A cyclist raised over £600 completing the 210-mile Trans Pennine Trail in memory of Seashell fundraiser.

Mark Shaw, a business banking advocate at the Co-operative Bank in Stockport, rode mostly solo from Southport to Hornsea over a long weekend.

Mark, 27, from Gorton, said: “I chose to cycle for the the Seashell Trust as my cousin, who recently passed away, was a big advocate of the charity.

“As he died so young, I thought should take up the baton of fundraising for the trust. I know it is for the most worthwhile cause in Manchester.

Seashell Trust to hold inter-college SEN sports day at SportCity Manchester

20th May 2016

In the run-up to the Paralympics in Rio, Seashell Trust is holding an inter–college sport day for special SEN colleges across the North West at SportCity in Manchester.

Now in its sixth year, some 180 young athletes with a wide range of abilities will attend this celebration of sport on Thursday, May 26.

The students participating have a range of complex needs and disabilities, including multi-sensory and communication difficulties.
