CBeebies star Mr Tumble says hello to Seashell students

Seashell Trust students played host a very special visitor – Cbeebies star Mr Tumble.

His alter-ego children's tv presenter Justin Fletcher is credited with bringing disability awareness to the fore on children's television through his groundbreaking Something Special show, featuring young guests with disabilities and teaching viewers sign language.

Sodexo team on route to completing the Three Peaks Challenge

Sodexo staff rise to Three Peaks Challenge

A team from Sodexo and Astra Zeneca took on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Seashell Trust.

Walkers have 24 hours to scale the three largest mountains in the UK, beginning in Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis, driving on to Scafell Pike and finishing with Mount Snowdon.

After ascending a total of 3,407 metres and travelling 462 miles, the eight members of staff from the facilities management company completed the challenge in 23 hours 45 mins.

Golf club captain cards £3,000 from charity comp

Big-hearted golfers swung into action to support the Seashell Trust.

Fred Finley used his Captain's Charity Day at Didsbury Golf Club to raise much-needed funds for our students.

Some 24 teams took to part in the fourball better ball competition with club members Andy Royle, Ben Pierce, Jeff Wheelans, Martin Barlow (pictured with their prize of new golf shoes and Fred Finley) holing out winners.

Arabian Nights Summer Ball raises £44, 000

Seashell Trust's guests indulged their senses at this year's Arabian Night's themed annual Summer Ball. 

Guests were greeted by a belly dancer from Ri Ri's Dance Academy as they posed for the photographer. 

The dinner raised an amazing £44, 000 thanks to the generous attendees on the night. 

The guests were treated to performances from Ri Ri's Dance Academy belly dancer, the band Right Stuff 3000 and specialist shisha style cocktails from Mr Flavour, all compered by the amazing Paul Sleem.

Josh the guide dog buddies up with students

Our students have made a new friend in former guide dog Josh.

The charity Guide Dogs run a buddy programme which provides specially trained dogs to help increase communication, physical activity and social inclusion for visually impaired children and young people.

Practising with Josh, they can learn animal care skills in preparation for possibly owning a guide dog themselves.

Lyme 41's charity screening is big box office for trust

Lyme 41 Club has donated £761 to Seashell Trust after a charity screening of the Second Best Marigold Hotel.

The money from the Disley branch of the Round Table's big brother group will fund a day of one-to-one support for ten children with disabilities at the Children's Able and Disabled Sports (CADS) clubs after school and during the holidays.

All the activities are inclusive, meaning all children no matter what their abilities can participate.

Painter jumps at chance to skydive for Seashell

A painter and decorator is jumping at the chance to throw himself out of a plane to raise money for Seashell students.

Robert Watson, 43, of Chelford Road, Sale, works for Sodexo at the AstraZeneca's Macclesfield Campus and is planning his skydive in Whitchurch, Shropshire in July.

First student homes opened in £25m Transforming Lives project

Seashell Trust has opened nine new homes for its disabled students funded by its multi-million pound Transforming Lives appeal.

The homes for 68 students are the first phase of the £25m project at its Cheadle Hulme campus.

Mark Geraghty, CEO and Principal of Seashell Trust, said: “This represents the most significant investment in the charity’s campus since we moved here in the 50s. It has only been possible because of the outstanding support received from a number of key donors.”

An athletic couple are testing themselves by completing 12 challenges over the course of a year to raise money for the Seashell Trust.

Scott and Justine Straughan, from Wilmslow, decided to face a trial a month for 2015, in the hope of raising £1,200.

Father's generous wedding present to Seashell Trust

A father asked his wedding guests to donate to Seashell Trust instead of gifts.

James Parkinson, from Sabden, Clitheroe, recently married Amanda Dugdale at St Nicholas Church, in the village, watched by his children Florence, Harry, Nainsi and Vincent.

And their generous friends and families gave a very special wedding present of £1,500 to Seashell Trust, which cares for Vincent, aged 14.

RBS donates £18,000 of technology to students

Seashell Trust has received £18,000 of specialist equipment from RBS that will help transform the lives of disabled young people.

The Royal School and College Manchester, run by Seashell Trust, use assistive technology to teach independence and to encourage its students, many of whom have autism, learning difficulties and communication disorders, to interact with the world.

Vote Seashell in bid for £25,000 for CADS

Never mind the General Election, the Seashell Trust needs your vote.

The charity is looking to win a grant of up to £25,000 from the Aviva Community Fund.

Seashell Trust runs Children's Able and Disabled Sport (CADS). It gives disabled young people, aged five to 18, opportunities to enjoy sports activities in Stockport alongside their non-disabled friends in an inclusive, non-judgmental setting.
